Caring for your pet shouldn’t feel stressful — it should feel familiar, like visiting people who know your pet, understand your concerns, and help you feel confident in every decision. At Colonial Animal Hospital and Colonial Gateway Veterinary Center, our team builds real relationships with families so each visit feels comfortable, supportive, and focused on what’s best for your pet.
For more than 40 years, Colonial Animal Hospital has served Boynton Beach as a welcoming neighborhood veterinarian where families feel comfortable and pets receive gentle, attentive care. Twenty years later, Colonial Gateway Veterinary Center opened just down the road, adding convenient access to services like daycare, boarding, and grooming.
Today, both locations operate as one connected team. You’ll experience the same doctors, medical philosophy, and trusted care at either hospital — simply with more flexibility for scheduling and services that fit your routine.
Named Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorites in Palm Beach County, our team is committed to treating every pet and every person with warmth and respect. From preventive care to acupuncture, laser therapy, orthopedic surgery with Dr. Martin, and safe boarding, we’re here to make veterinary visits easier and less overwhelming.
We provide personalized preventive care to help pets stay healthy at every life stage, along with same-day urgent care appointments during business hours when unexpected problems arise.
If your pet suddenly isn’t acting like themselves, we offer same-day care for concerns like vomiting, limping, infections, and minor injuries — with a focus on comfort and clear answers.
We provide spay and neuter procedures, dental cleanings with X-rays, and other surgical treatments. Careful monitoring and pain control help ensure a safe, smooth recovery at home.

Dr. Martin graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After owning and selling one practice in Tennessee he moved to Boynton Beach in 1987. Colonial Animal Hospital was purchased in 2004 and Boynton-Hypoluxo Animal Clinic was purchased from Dr. Arthur Burton in 2008. That building was torn down and the new Colonial Gateway Veterinary Center was born in its place.
A recent study of Dr. Martin’s career estimated that he has helped over 150000 pets with health care issues from broken toenails to broken bones and virtually everything in between. Dr M has worked hard over the years to develop a “whole patient” approach to care of pets with the patient’s people being involved in the decision making process each step of the way. This has helped both practices develop a loyal following of clients who know their Veterinarian has the best interest of clients and their beloved pets at the cornerstone of these hospitals.
Dr. M lives in Western Lake Worth with his wife Lisa, son Trey and six dogs, three cats and eight chickens. The Martins also have four grown daughters who along with Trey and Lisa are the driving force in his life. A passion for the ocean is Dr. Martin’s main interest as a hobby outside of work that is usually enjoyed in the Bahamas. Every aspect of his life is lived in a way that would make his creator the focus of his life. This one fact is Rob Martins’ reason for conducting his professional life the way he has and any credit for success in life is given to God.
